On the experience screen, there should be a small menu in the top right-hand corner which you can use to turn haptics off.
You can also turn this off in the Settings menu.
Using haptics with Nova
If you're using Nova, haptics can only run while your phone's screen stays unlocked. This is a limitation of iOS itself: it's not currently possible to run haptics in the background if the screen is locked. So if your phone locks partway through a Nova session, haptics will stop until it's unlocked again.
