I can't play a session - "Download Failed"

What to check if the sessions aren't playing and you see this message

Written by Maya Felstead

If you're seeing "Download Failed" when trying to play a session, the best place to start is often a full uninstall and reinstall of the app. This rules out both an outdated app version and any caching issues in one go.

  1. App update — make sure the Lumenate app is on the latest version. Check the App Store/Google Play for updates.

  2. Restart — try restarting the Lumenate app, or restarting the device itself.

  3. Storage space — make sure the device has enough free storage. Sessions need space to download.

  4. Internet connection — try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data to see if one works better. A weak or unstable connection can cause downloads to fail.

  5. App permissions — check that the Lumenate app has the necessary permissions enabled in the device's settings.

  6. Ad-blockers & VPNs — if you're using any ad-blocking apps or a VPN, try turning them off temporarily and attempt to play again, these may be interfering (please send us a message if this seems to be the case).

  7. Session download process — to download a session for offline use: select the session, then tap the Available Offline toggle before pressing Play Session (you may need to scroll down below the session description to find this toggle).

If you're still unable to play the session, please get in touch with us and let us know your device model, OS version, and which session(s) are affected — we'll then look into this with you ✨
